Tempered Glass vs. Polycarbonate

This is tempered glass, the same material type used by the factory, so it keeps its clarity and resists scratches from wipers, dust and cleaning far better than polycarbonate. If tempered glass breaks, it crumbles into small, blunt pieces instead of large sharp shards. For forestry mulching, demolition or other work with flying debris, consider an impact-resistant polycarbonate panel instead — see our John Deere excavator polycarbonate windshields and doors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the rear window an emergency exit on the 60G?

Deere lists a rear secondary exit kit as an option on the 35G, 50G and 60G. Check whether your machine has one before you replace the rear glass.

Why isn't the rear glass a rectangle?

It is 840 mm at its widest and 640 mm at its narrowest, 625 mm tall, so the sides are not parallel. Compare the shape with your old pane.

Does the rear window open?

No. It is a fixed, rearward-facing panel with no mounting holes.

Is this the left side window?

No. FYD00005006 is the rear window; the left side window is FYD00005004.

Is the 4 mm rear glass strong enough for brush work?

It is tempered glass, the same material type as factory. For mulching or flying debris, consider polycarbonate protection.
